- In September 2016, Heads of State and Government came together to discuss the issues of migration and refugees. The result was the adoption of the New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants, whose Annex II set in motion a process of intergovernmental consultations and negotiations which will culminate in the adoption of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) at the end of 2018. The GCM represents the first international policy framework addressing migration and is based on Target 10.7 of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development. For more information, visit here
